Writers are needed for article submissions in these general topic areas. New articles will be published weekly to bi-monthly.
Here is a list of the topic ideas we would like to see articles for. This is just a guide. You are free to write any type of article about education/learning that most interests you. If you are interested there is a good chance that others will be interested as well. Remember, this learning website is a portal for all people learning. I will not publish articles that attempt to degrade a specific type of learning choice. I believe that we each have to choose what works best for ourselves.
Using computer programs as your curriculum or as a supplement. Either the pros and/or cons, how-to, etc.
How using non-educational or educational games helps you learn. What, how, why, your views, etc.
Compare methods of learning foreign languages.
Present a book review on a book about alternative schools or learning.
Kids or adults experiences with an "alternative school". Was it better? If so, how.
Tell our readers about charter or magnet schools. What are the advantages and/or problems. Who do they help and/or hinder?
Information about learning methods such as Montessori or Waldorf. What are the benefits, draw backs or difficullties?
Provide information about mentorship or apprenticeships. How can people find the resources they need? What is reasonable for mentors to provide? Is there a certain "etiquette" required?
If you loved school, what was it that made it successful for you?
For teachers: What made teaching or how-to-teach and get results really "click" for you?
What do you think schools most need to improve that could make a small but important or critical improvement for kids that will never quite fit into the system?
Is your school especially well-known for creative solutions to getting kids excited about learning? Tell us how your school is different and what has worked well.
Has your school offered part-time classes to homeschooler?
Or, are you a homeschooler that has participated in some school classes part-time? What worked and what didn't?
Share your unique ways for learning a specific subject.
What methods did you use as an adult to learn subjects that you needed to review or just plain missed out on as a child?
How can learning be FUN when you're not a little kid anymore?
Could schools be more encouraging to high school dropouts by changing their attitude toward them?
Is a high school dropout really a failure? Why or why not.
Does treating dropouts like criminals encourage criminal behaviour?
How can finding out your particular "learning style" help you learn better?
Memorization-is it necessary? Is it helpful or harmful? Could people that can't memorize use other methods just as successfully?
If kids were allowed to start school whenever they were ready (not necessarily in kindergarten but perhaps 2nd or 3rd grade) how could two working parents manage?
Do you sell a learning product or service? Write an article about how your product makes learning fun, your views on learning or write on one of the topics above.
The FUN in Learning cannot pay at this time. However,this is an opportunity to have your work published and will be a great addition to your resume! A complete bio and credit will be included with each article used on the site along with a link to your website if you wish. Plus you will be featured in our site contributors section, you can use this to promote your business, website, and more!
Not every submitted work is selected for publication, only those that we feel best complement our mission and the expectations of our readers. Past works are placed in the archives. All articles should be submitted as Microsoft Word documents (.doc) or in the body of an email message. Include with all submissions your name and an email address where you are reachable by our readers. A 20-30 word byline telling who you are, where you live (general vicinity), and what you do for a living is also acceptable, but not required. You retain full rights to your work. No strings, no exceptions.
Articles should be between 500 to 2,000 words but we have no hard rules on this. The FUN in Learning! reserves the right to edit all submitted work for content, length, or grammar.
Please include your name and an email address for me to contact you. I reserve the right to edit with your final approval or not use your article if I feel it doesn't fit with the theme of the web site. If your article is fitting but I feel it needs some tweaking I will return it to you with suggestions and it is up to you if you do or don't want to re-submit it.
Any articles that aren't used right away will be saved for future use.
